The car was traded in to us by a retired couple, they kept it parked in the garage and only drove it on nice days. The exterior is in great shape considering the car is 44 years old, the under-carriage is in nice shape with no abnormal corrosion or rust and the lower doors are all clean with no rust. The interior is very nice with no unusual wear on the front or rear seats, carpet is clean and there are no odors in the vehicle ( non smoker ). I drove the car and put close to 30 miles on it and mechanically it runs & drives very good. It starts right up and idles smooth, accelerates without any hesitation and the transmission shifts smooth through all gears with no issues. At highway speeds ( 60 mph ) it drives down the road straight and it does great around town. When you drive one of these bug's they give you a very distinct driving experience, it almost feels like driving a big go-cart. The engine is in the back and is air-cooled, there is no power steering although it steers very smooth even at low speeds, there are no air bags, no traction control, no fancy electronics, no power windows or power locks, just a fun & solid little buggy that gives you a very satisfying feeling knowing your driving a great running 44 year old automobile. These cars are extremely easy to work on and parts are very inexpensive and plentiful online. Learning to work on these cars is very easy with a huge library of DIY articles with pictures online. The engine can be removed from the car in 30 minutes, just 4 bolts, 2 wires, a fuel line and throttle cable hold it all in place, very simple engineering that's still very reliable even 44 years later. Within the last 100 miles the car had an oil & filter change, valves adjusted, new fuel pump, 4 new tires and brakes, new spark plugs and a new distributor cap.
